The Parish Council works on your behalf.  Parish Council Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month (except August) at 7:00pm in the Victoria Institute.

If you have anything to raise with the Parish Council this can be done at the start of the meeting, in the Open Forum.

Planning applications are considered at Parish Council meetings. Paper copies of applications are not available but can be viewed online the Lancaster City Council website .

The village Emergency Plan is under the tab marked Documents and policies.  The Parish Council’s Code of ConductFinancial Regulations and Standing Orders are there too

From the team that brought you the ‘Oasis Cafe’, ‘Meet to Eat’ and now ‘Coffee and Cakes’ comes our new venture ‘Friday Friends’. As mentioned in last month’s ‘Link’ we’re inviting people who live with dementia or memory issues, to come along with their carers to enjoy a sing-along, followed by a light lunch.

All happening at the Victoria Institute and starting on Friday 27th May, then every 4th Friday of each month.

Jubilee Beacon in Littledale

JUBILEE BEACONS – In celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Jubilee Beacons will be lit on Thursday 2nd June throughout the UK (and Commonwealth.) A village jubilee beacon/bonfire will be lit at the top of Littledale near the public car park( LA2 9ET).

Bring your own picnic to enjoy from 7.30pm onwards. Ample, if somewhat uncomfortable seating available – it’s a large but rocky field! Lighting of beacon, along with the rest of the country, at 9.45pm.

The next WI meeting will be held on Thursday 2nd June starting at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Dianne Mardell whose talk is entitled “The Art of Soapcraft – a journey from hobby to small business”. Her talk will be interactive and there will be an opportunity to take part in fragrance testing. If you have ever thought of joining WI, why not come along – you don’t have to commit yourself until you have tried it

Platinum Jubilee Lunch @ Victoria Institute

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations: Lunch The Parish Council and the Victoria Institute are sponsoring a celebratory lunch on Saturday 4th June. It will be entirely funded by the Cottam Trust. The guests will be 70 older residents or people who would otherwise be alone for the celebrations. So the motto for the lunch is “70 for 70”. 

It should be possible to arrange transport for those who need it. If you would like to come, please give your name to Peter Collins at the Victoria Institute by 25th April. Phone number 771733.

If there are more residents who wish to attend than places (70), seats will be allocated by ballot.
