The hub meets from 2-4pm every first and third Saturday of the month at Lune Valley Methodist Church. The Hub was initially created to help support our Ukrainian guests and their hosts but has evolved to be a place for the whole community to come together, mix and chat in a safe warm space. It is a chance to get to meet others from the village and get to know your community. It is free and open to all and each session we have a different skill share, English classes for our Ukrainian guests, children’s activities, coffee and cake.
The November hub sessions are:
4th November: Make and Mend. Members of the community including ladies from the WI will show you how to repair clothes, use your sewing machine (bring your own) and get you started with sewing skills. If you can sew and would like to share your experience or enjoy baking and would like to share your cakes/biscuits, this session is a showcase for people to share knowledge and to learn new skills.
18th November: Community Wellness Day. An afternoon to come and learn about different ways you can improve your emotional, financial and physical health. We have representatives from Green Rose CIC to give advice on how you can make home warmer whilst saving money. Age UK to share information about the variety of services they offer and how you can get support. We will also have stalls from Citizens Advice, Lancaster CVS and Lancaster County Council Community Connectors. Whether you want to get involved with volunteering, find out what clubs and events are available or just want to get general information this is a one stop information shop.
