July 13, 2023 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
St Paul's Church Hall, Brookhouse
This coming Wednesday 14th June is our monthly general meeting, as usual 7:30 in the Station Hotel. Come and have a friendly chat about how the season is going.
The next monthly meeting after that will be 12th July. July is the month when we see the most swifts in our skies, as breeding adults are joined by younger birds that arrive in high summer to prospect for a nest site for next year. Amazingly these youngsters are with us only for a few weeks before they take a return flight of thousands of miles back to southern Africa! Look out for screaming parties of Swifts flying low around favoured buildings or coming and going from nest sites and do let us know what you see.
Then the day after the July meeting, on Thursday 13th July, Alasdair McKee from the RSPB will be giving us a talk on the lives and conservation of our swifts, followed by an informal stroll around the village to watch them in action. It’s 7.30pm at St Paul’s church hall, and all are welcome (£1 minimum donation would be welcome, to pay for the hall.)
