Earlier this year, the Environment Agency set up an automated flood alert system for the Lune at Caton. Residents in the areas most at risk have been contacted by the Environent Agency. There are 6 properties in Zone A, likely to be at risk when the river gauge reaches 6 metres at Caton. Another 83 properties are in Zone B, likely to be at risk when it reaches 8 metres. There is a printed map available at the Victoria Institute, or check online.
To register for alerts for your property, contact Floodline on 0345 988 1188, or online.
The EA is also working on an alert system for the Artle Beck, and hopes to have it active later in 2022.
