Talk by Dr. Michael Winstanley,

Michael was Senior Lecturer in History at Lancaster university for 32 years until 2010 researching various aspects of social and regional history (which he still continue to do!). He has written several books and articles on the history of shops, including a study of TD Smiths' the Lancaster grocer who traded 1858-1981, as well as other studies of Lancaster.  He lives in Tatham  where he is secretary of the Tatham History Society.  He regularly give talks on local topics to local groups.  This talk will hopefully bring back some memories of what shopping used to be like ...
