LASAR (Lancaster Area Search and Rescue) is running its DEFRA-approved Water Awareness Course in Caton. This four-hour course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to stay safer around inland and flood water. You’ll get a better understanding of hydrology, water hazards, personal protective equipment, dangers of soft surfaces. Then there is a practical session at Denny Beck on how to carry out a Reach, Throw and Shout Rescue. On successful completion of the course, you’ll get an SLSGB certificate.
The course is planned for Saturday 6th April 2019 10am-2pm, starting at the Victoria Institute, Caton. Hot drinks and cake provided, but bring your own packed lunch if need be. Please have warm outdoor clothing with you and practical footwear.
Ideal for individuals or groups who work or play near or on the river. Useful for community emergency coordinators and youth leaders.
Caton-with-Littledale Parish Council is organising this course, and has free places for up to 15 people who live in the parish of Caton-with-Littledale. For others there is a charge of £30.
