Ivy on trees on the Millennium Way

Recently someone has hacked back and tried to kill and remove lots of ivy growing on trees along the Millennium Way.  The loss of the so much well-established  ivy will damage local wildlife, which uses ivy to build nests, and as a source of berries in winter and nectar when the ivy is in flower.  And it looks awful!  The ivy was not damaging the trees, and its loss will make the Millennium Way a poorer place for  people and birds and insects and animals.  The work was not authorised by Lancashire County Council, which is the body responsible for the Millennium Way.
