Barnardo's Lancashire Supported Lodgings

Lancashire Supported Lodgings Project are looking for volunteers who can offer support and lodgings to a vulnerable young person at a crucial time in their life.

If you have a spare bedroom and the time and desire to offer practical and emotional support, you are exactly who we are looking for.

We know that a supportive, stable home environment can make a huge difference to a young person's chances of moving on successfully.

Caton Community Library

The Victoria Institute houses the Community Library. After Lancashire County Council closed the Caton library in 2007, Caton Community Library Trust was established to provide a service for the people of Caton-with-Littledale Parish and the wider Lune Valley. The Victoria Institute took on the running of the Library in 2016 when the Caton Community Library Trust was dissolved. Everyone is welcome to browse and to borrow the books, all of which have been donated and include a good range of favourites and latest bestsellers.

Caton Gala

Caton Gala is an annual event, held in early June on the Station Field.  It is run by a hard-working committee who meet monthly in The Station.  They welcome volunteers.

The Link

The Link is published monthly and hand delivered free of charge to the residents of Caton & Brookhouse. It carries the latest news and advertising in an easy to read format.

Twinning Group

On 12th April 2008 the twinning of Socx and Caton-with-Littledale was formalised. Socx is located about 6 miles south of Dunkirk and has a population of about 1000.

Anyone in the parish is welcome to attend our fund raising events throughout the year and also join the trips to Socx and the events when they come to Caton. We particularly encourage families with children to take part as our activities are open to all ages.

Victoria Institute

The Victoria Institute, which lies at the heart of Caton village, offers a range of rooms available to hire for community, private, and business events. Founded in 1888, the Victoria Institute has been refurbished and extended over recent years through two major grant funded projects which transformed the building into a comfortable, well equipped venue.

The accommodation has been developed with flexibility of use in mind and, being arranged on one level, it is easily accessible by all. This vibrant resource centre is an important aspect of social life in the village, and many Clubs and Societies run regular activities in the Institute building. We have a large Hall, two good size meeting rooms, Kitchen, and an IT Resource Centre, so most needs can be met whatever the size and nature of your planned event.
