Caton Gala 2020 will take place on Saturday the 13th June 2020.
Caton Gala is well over a century old. Those responsible for making it happen have always looked for ways to develop, improve and tailor the gala to the needs and desires of the residents of Caton with Littledale and the surrounding area. We are always looking for ways to iron out any imperfections and to make it “better next time”. We also seek to make the Gala an opportunity for community involvement. As part of this we carefully consider an appropriate “theme”. The purpose of the theme is to provide continuity with the parade, program of entertainment and fancy-dress competition. We also seek to produce something which can include persons of all ages and from all backgrounds. Accordingly, the theme for Caton Gala 2020 will be “The Circus”.
Whilst there can be no doubt that the weather did its best to spoil Caton Gala 2019 we were disappointed that there were only two floats in the parade. Part of the purpose of the parade is for village groups and organisations to be able indulge in self-promotion. Participation is open to all. It is not limited to a few schools and children’s organisations. If you are a member of a group or organisation which has some connection to Caton, now is the time to put your thinking cap on and join in the parade. We would really like to make the parade for Caton Gala 2020 the best ever.
October is never a very exciting month in Galaland, The booking of toilets, barriers and PA systems is rarely a headline grabber. Nonetheless these important tasks are carried out.
