Capoeira For Beginners

Capoeira for beginners.  With Fernando Bandeira.
Sats 12 May, 19 May, 2 June, 9 June 15:00 – 17:00

4 week course with Fernando Bandeira, aimed at adults but accompanied children (7+) welcome.  Capoeira was created in Brazil by the descendants of African slaves, and is nowadays a martial art with a dance and music element. The course will introduce you to Capoeira from its origins to the current day. You will learn basic capoeira movements such as footwork(ginga), squat(cocorinha), handstand(bananeira), and learn to understand the music, the dance, and the fight for freedom as essential pillars of this art form – which was recognised in 2014 by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. We will be developing four principles: naturalism, historicity, creativity and cooperation.   £40 (£20 for people on means tested benefits or in full time education – please bring evidence of your entitlement to the first course) To book visit www.haltonmill.org.uk/learning-at-the-mill/ or call 07582789406
